Our headquarters are located in the town of Maynard, MA which is in Metrowest Massachusetts outside of Cambridge/Boston. In a 1.1 million sq ft historical complex, we are a 6500 sq ft space and offer programming and memberships to bring a community of thinkers, doers and game changers together. Through our partnerships with Workbar and Canopy, the Revolution Factory is affiliated with over 30+ collaborative spaces throughout Massachusetts and with your membership, you can access all of them.

About Mill & Main, HQ of The Revolution Factory

Mill & Main, has a history of being an innovation hub. Originally built as woolen factory and operated as such for over 100 years (1846 to 1950) as the Assabet Woolen Mill and basically became known as “The Mill”. It was famous for making the wool blankets and union soldier uniforms during the American Civil War. In 1957, in true startup fashion, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) opened up an office and in 1974 bought the whole mill. They were the Microsoft of their day building the mainframe and mini-computers that competed directly with IBM, among others. They were the second largest employer in Massachusetts for the 1970s, 80s and 90s (The State of Massachusetts was the #1 employer). However, DEC couldn’t transition their huge business into PC Desktop/Networking era that was taking hold. Microsoft essentially ate their lunch and DEC went bankrupt in 1998 and Wellesley Management took over naming it Clock Tower Place. It was global HQ of Monster.com and housed many startups over the years. In 2015 it changed hands and is under the stewardship of Saracen Properties who christened it “Mill & Main”. They have opened up the space to the town so no long does it have the feel of “this is the town and that is the mill”. With great tenants like Acacia and Stratus along with numerous startups and the innovation campus of the Revolution Factory, innovation is back.
